The main character in this book is Tom Natsworthy, who we met in the first book, as a struggling teenage historian. he has returned as a man on the brink of death. the book is set in an apocolyptic future, where cities move, where heroes dare and where super weapons can change the face of the earth.
All in all this is one of the greatest books of all time. It is definatly a must read for everyone.
